The Rise of the Knicks

By Aakash Bhatia

For the past two months, the New York Knicks have been one of the hottest teams in basketball, winning ten of their last fourteen games. The interesting storyline is how they have gotten their. If someone were to hear that stat beginning of the year, they would assume it was because of Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire. However, the real cause of the team’s success has actually come from some unexpected players. Through trades and unexpected circumstances, the Knicks have put together a great and deep team.

Of course there is Jeremy Lin, whose emergence out of no where has given the Knicks a solid point guard. There is also Baron Davis who has been a solid presence off the bench, replacing Toney Douglass as backup point guard. JR Smith has been a present surprise from China while Iman Shumpert and Jared Jeffries have provided great defense. Also don’t forget Josh Harrelson, the 2nd round pick out of Kentucky who plays hard and can hit the three.

It’s different than what the Knicks would have expected, but through all the chaos and confusion they’ve finally emerged with a deep and talented team. The question now is just whether that talent will translate into wins.
